Avery Easy Apply adhesive technology helps graphics application teams get the job done faster – and better. Avery-brand films featuring both Avery Easy Apply and Avery Easy Apply RS technology help you to achieve a perfect, skin-like finish, without wrinkles or air bubbles – and save time and cost

Avery Easy Apply/Easy Apply RS technology – saving time and cost

There’s a wide portfolio of Avery Graphics wrapping films or printable films available from distributors across Europe which feature Avery Easy Apply and Avery Easy Apply RS adhesive technology – and you can also colour match to customer requirements for low minimum order quantities.

The process step by step

As well as the special air egress features of Avery Easy Apply adhesives, Avery Easy Apply RS offers repositionability and slideability of the films during application, for perfect decal positioning, eliminating any costly remakes. Otherwise, the installation steps for both qualities are very similar to those for other films:

1. Prepare the application surface. A clean, dry application surface is absolutely essential for facilitating satisfactory adhesive bond to the application surface.

2. Take time to check the recommended application temperature for the film, the air temperature, and the temperature of the substrate. A minimum temperature of 160 C is recommended – for film, air, and substrate.

3. Select the installation tools to be used.

4. Apply the graphic.

- Overlap all strokes of the squeegee by about 50%.

- When using the squeegee, hold it at an angle of 50-70º maximum from the surface. The flatter the better.

5. Remove air bubbles and ‘tenting’ around rivets.

- Remove air bubbles by applying pressure to the middle of the bubble with your thumb, and rub out towards the bubble edges. The air will disperse along the special air egress channels. Unless the bubble is over 2.5cm in diameter, there will be no need to make air release holes.

- Tenting around rivets can be eliminated with an air release tool, heat source, and rivet brush; or by pressing down on the top of the rivet head, which forces the air away from it and into the flat area surrounding the rivet head.

- Then secure the film around the rivet head by using a heat source, and working the warmed film in a circular, counter-clockwise motion back towards the base of the rivet head.

6. The finishing pass with the squeegee, and tips on good re-squeegeeing techniques.

- Re-squeegee all the edges, overlaps and seams of the decal with firm pressure.

These details, and more, are available in this helpful practical Technical Bulletin.
